The parade began with members from the Royal British Legion motorcycle rders group running past Perth City Centre. The majority of the riders are ex-military wearing their berets and come from all parts of Scotland.

The parade stayed very dry for the parade however the Tattoo performance was hit with a torrential downpour of rain which lasted for hours! I’ve been wet many times but the rain that day was one of the worst I’ve ever experienced so bad I had to stop filming. I remember another time watching the live Edinburgh Tattoo where it was equally as bad from two different years in 2011 and 2015.

The 2019 event was the fourth year in a row the event has ran for and includes a mix of international pipe and military bands including local bands from across Perthshire. There have been various Tattoo taster events over the years which have taken place in similar locations such as Dundee, Edinburgh, Aberfeldy, Stirling and Glasgow.

Perth is a city in central Scotland on the banks of the River Tay. It’s local council is called Perth and Kinross and is known as The Fair City since the publication of the story, Fair Maid of Perth by Scottish writer Sir Walkter Scott in 1828.

The ever popular New Zealand Army Band is featured with their scarlet tunics which form part of their full dress uniforms. Also present is the only military marching steel band orchestra in the world, the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force Band and Drums which play steelpans and other native Trinidadian instruments.

The North Inch Park is the larger of the two in Perth which overlook the River Tay. It’s a popular venue for major events and festivals and can also be hired for special events.
